Film Photography? Why you should have some analog photos of your wedding day.

I'm obsessed with film photography and love when wedding/engagement couples want some film shot at their wedding! Here's why I shoot film in addition to digital photos at weddings, and what it can offer you as a couple.

Film photos have a unique charm and character that digital photography can't quite replicate. Film has a natural grain, a rich tonality, and a softness that gives your photos a timeless and romantic feel.

But shooting film is not just about the aesthetic. It's also about the experience. Shooting film requires more intention, patience, and skill than shooting digital. You have to be mindful of each frame, as you only have a limited number of shots per roll. Shooting film is a nice way of slowing down and being present in the moment, which is what weddings are all about!

Don't get me wrong, I love digital photography too. Digital photography has many advantages over film, such as speed, convenience, cost, and resolution. Digital photography also allows me to edit and deliver your photos faster and easier than film. That's why I shoot both film and digital at weddings, so I can offer you the best of both worlds. I use digital photography for the majority of the wedding day, especially for the formal portraits, group shots, and details. I use film photography for the more intimate and artistic moments, such as the getting ready, the first look, the ceremony, and the couples portraits. Essentially I try to snap a digital and film versions throughout the day so I have the pretty film with the digital option in case it doesn't quite come out.

By shooting both film and digital at weddings, I can create a diverse and beautiful collection of images that showcase your wedding day in all its glory. I can also ensure that you have backup copies of your photos in case something happens to either the film or the digital files. Shooting both film and digital also allows me to cater to your preferences and needs as a couple. Some couples love the look of film and want more of it in their wedding photos. Some couples prefer the crispness and clarity of digital and want less of it in their wedding photos. Some couples want a balance of both. Whatever your preference is, I can accommodate it.
